ON THE ROAD

In 1999 a number of heavy-metal concerts hit the stages with groups like "By the Well", "Savaot", Overseer" from Macedonia and "Garden Tomb" from Bulgaria. 12 March in Sofia and 13 in Kjustendil. After these events, they were interviewed by the Varna newspaper "Light", in which they shared that they used to play as praise and worship teams in their local churches. "God called us to spread the Good News to all the people" - they added - "Many people, in this group Christians, were against us playing this heavy style, but it occurred a winning strategy for reaching many heavy-metal fans. The fruit of our ministry changed people's negative attitude towards us." "Savaot" shared, that in one of the clubs where they played, suddenly the joy and freedom of the Lord covered the place and many were saved. "God started opening doors toward the drug addicts, punks and skinheads. The invitations were numerous and for a short period we were able to play in Greece and Hungary - the "Rock for Life" festivals, as well as the "New Generation" festival in Sofia, were we could testify about Jesus again."

In September, Julian Nedkov organised a tour of the German melodic-groove group "Snubnose" from Ljudvingsbourgh. The band exists since 6 years ago and behind their back are over 1000 concerts and many thousands of kilometres in Europe. From 19 September to 3 October they toured Sofia, Plovdiv, Bourgas, Varna, Veliko Turnovo and Pleven. They had 4 concerts and played at 6 night clubs: "The Spider", "Roxy", "Lighthouse", "Mixer", "Sturgaloto" and "Boogie Bar." They played songs from their last album called "Move On" including the hits "Havah Nagilla" and "Circumcised", which were continuously on air at the different radio stations. They gave many interviews during which they shared their faith in Jesus and the need to seek God. Many journalists were surprised by their Christian position. In a Varna newspaper they were asked about their future production. Thomas said: "This will be a conceptual album with 20 songs." Martin added: "We write the lyrics based on stories from the bible. We use situations that involve famous biblical persons." On the question about the sacrifice they answered: "The music is a great pleasure! Really great! Many times our families and friends' relationship would suffer because of us being on the road so much." Steve, the drummer added: "I win music I loose hearing." "And what do you think about the young people in this nation?" Thomas said: "You know, having talked to a lot of people here, I got the impression that they do not have a hope that this country can improve. I think some basic things are missing and as you know it all starts from the head."

Many wonderful things happened during their tour and the best of all were their meeting with the fans. From the negative experience we can mention the arrogant attitude of night-club owners which left the group with some bad memories.

The "New Rhythm" magazine wrote about them saying: "As if following the example of the style 'White Metal', of the former group 'Stryper', who used to throw bibles from stage, the boys from 'Snubnose' discovered the White core style and passionately praised Jesus from the stage. Well, they did not throw any bibles?! They rather dug into melody-punk with Californian sound but in a harder variant. It was fun to observe fans with 'Halloween' T-shirts and especially 'Iron Maiden 666 The Number of the Beast'. When the world is drowning into problems, there comes the real need for salvation through Jesus Christ, whose mission is powerfully manifested in the life, the music and the message of the boys from 'Snubnose', may God bless them"

This was the last cultural event for 1999. A year full of various rock concerts that led many people to a place of personal touch from the love of God expressed in the mission of Jesus Christ.
